BLM Antibody (BFL103) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects BLM in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). BLM, or Bloom′s syndrome protein, plays a crucial role in maintaining genomic stability by unwinding DNA during replication and repair processes, which is vital for preventing mutations that can lead to cancer. BLM is primarily located in the nucleus, where BLM interacts with both single- and double-stranded DNA, and BLM′s ATPase activity is essential for its helicase function. Mutations in the BLM gene result in a failure to properly unwind DNA, leading to an increased frequency of sister chromatid exchanges, a hallmark of Bloom′s syndrome. This dysfunction not only contributes to the characteristic growth deficiencies and immunodeficiency seen in affected individuals but also heightens their susceptibility to various cancers. Anti-BLM antibody (BFL103) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying the molecular mechanisms underlying Bloom′s syndrome and the broader implications of DNA repair pathways in cancer biology.
