UBF Antibody (F-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects UBF protein of mouse, rat, and human origin through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry (IHC), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). UBF (F-9) antibody is offered in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase, phycoerythrin, fluorescein isothiocyanate, and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. UBF protein plays a crucial role in the transcription of ribosomal RNA genes by RNA polymerase I, a process intricately linked to the cell′s growth state. UBF acts as a trans-activating factor by binding to specific DNA elements within the promoter and enhancer regions of ribosomal RNA genes, facilitating the recruitment of RNA polymerase I to the promoter complex. This interaction is vital for proper regulation of ribosomal RNA synthesis, essential for ribosome biogenesis and protein synthesis in cells. UBF exists in two forms due to alternative mRNA splicing, and UBF activity is modulated by phosphorylation at the carboxy terminus by casein kinase II, as well as by interactions with other proteins such as the retinoblastoma susceptibility gene product, Rb, which can inhibit UBF activity when not bound to E2F family members. The regulation of UBF is critical for maintaining the balance of ribosomal RNA production, necessary for cellular growth and proliferation.
