SAP 62 Antibody (4G8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects SAP 62 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SAP 62, also known as SF3A2, PRP11, PRPF11, or SF3a66, is a 464 amino acid protein characterized by the presence of one matrin-type zinc finger and is a crucial component of the SF3A splicing factor complex. This complex is essential for proper splicing of pre-mRNA, as SAP 62 facilitates the binding of U2 small nuclear ribonucleoprotein (snRNP) to the branchpoint sequence in pre-mRNA, thereby converting the 15S U2 snRNP into the active 17S form that directly participates in splicing events. SAP 62′s interaction with subunit 1 (SAP 114) through its N-terminus, along with binding to the 15S U2 snRNP via its zinc finger domain, underscores SAP 62′s pivotal role in RNA processing. Additionally, SAP 62 functions independently as a microtubule-binding protein, which may have implications for cellular structure and transport mechanisms. Anti-SAP 62 antibody (4G8) versatility in various applications makes this reagent an invaluable tool for researchers studying RNA splicing and related cellular processes.
