DEC1 Antibody (S-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects DEC1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). DEC1 (S-8) antibody is available as the non-conjugated form. DEC1, also known as SHARP2, is a 412 amino acid basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor that plays a crucial role in regulating the proliferation and differentiation of various cell types, including nerve cells, fibroblasts, and chondrocytes. DEC1′s bHLH domain is structurally similar to that of other key regulatory proteins in the mammalian HES family and Drosophila species, highlighting DEC1′s importance in developmental processes. Notably, DEC1 is a direct target of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) signaling, which is vital for gene expression modulation in cAMP-activated cells. DEC1 expression is phase-dependent and can be induced by brief light impulses, linking DEC1 to circadian rhythms. DEC1 is highly expressed in tissues such as cartilage, intestine, lung, and spleen, and works alongside DEC2 to regulate the mammalian molecular clock by suppressing the transcription of specific clock genes, with both proteins being detected in the suprachiasmatic nucleus in a circadian manner.
